摘要: We present an efficient motion estimation algorithm where vectors are selected based on a rate-distortion criterion. The minimizes the rate subject to constraint overall distortion by optimizing jointly vector coder and residual coder. As joint optimization is generally very demanding, we propose methods performance of approximated parametric functions. This results in substantial reduction computational complexity while sacrificing only small loss performance. Experimental indicate that proposed can improve H.261- H.263-based video coders significantly still generating H.261/H.263 decodable bit streams, respectively.
