Pulmonary and Heart Rate Changes Associated with Nonselective Beta-Blocker Glaucoma Therapy

摘要: AbstractSix ophthalmic beta-blockers-betaxolol, timolol, levobunolol, pindolol, befunolol, and metipranolol-and placebo eyedrops were tested in six normal volunteers for their effect on exercise heart rate, blood pressure, electrocardiogram tracings. None of the solutions affected pressure or results. Betaxolol did not affect rate. However, all other agents significantly (p < 0.05) suppressed heart's ability to respond exercise.These same formulations by spirometry asdimatic patients. had no forced expiratory volume at 1 sec (FEV,), whereas depressed vital lung function.
