摘要: Having secrets is incredibly common. However, secrecy has only recently started to receive more attention in research. What largely been neglected so far are the consequences of secret-sharing for relationship between sharer and receiver. In this project, we aim fill gap. Previous research shown that closeness can make likely. Building on from self-disclosure literature, experimentally investigate whether might turn increase perceptions closeness. addition, test valence shared as potential driver hypothesized effect, negative signal a high level trust, but also present burden To provide holistic picture, build variety methods three perspectives: Study 1 focuses receiver tests another person sharing (vs. nonconfidential information) decreases distance eyes 2 investigates lay theories how an observer perceives two people who share information). 3 these about predictive behavior, choose or positive decrease perceived receiver's side. Our results will contribute understanding affects way individuals think each other, close they feel interact with other.
