摘要: Canadian banks have invested millions in computer systems the last two decades. Yet and outside observers been uncertain that these investments had net benefits. In this paper, unique data collected directly from a bank is used to investigate impact of on output, input productivity. Using 1974-1987, translog cost model estimated. Both capital labor are divided into information noninformation inputs. The results generally consistent with economic theory. attempt separate technical change possible scale effects very sensitive alternative specification. Overall there has some productivity growth associated changing technology. However, many benefits seem accrued customer not lead gains for bank.
