摘要: Abstract Microbiological studies were conducted to assess the survival and injury characteristics of Candida albicans indicator bacteria in streams impacted by acid mine water (AMW) organic wastes. Persistence pure cultures C. three AMW-polluted was studied situ using environmental membrane diffusion chambers. Survival fungus (at least 3 days AMW) indicated prolonged tolerance conditions. In comparison, Escherichia coli killed within several hours stress. also demonstrated that less sensitive seasonal temperature fluctuations than E. or Streptococcus faecium. addition its survival, incurred minimal sublethal whereas identical conditions exposure resulted significant traditional bacteria. The failure standard microbiological procedures detect AMW-damaged compromises accuracy public health safety determinations these waters. On other hand, ability survive AMW with marked resistance suggests potential as a favorable alternative sanitary organism for such environments.
