摘要: Environmental filter models have been proposed as conceptual organizing frameworks for comparing and contrasting restoration practices. I evaluate two such environmental models, one by Fattorini Halle (2004) the other Hobbs Norton (2004). These were developed abstracting practice into what authors viewed essential features practitioners target control or manipulation. In so doing, these hope to be able transfer insights between different kinds of ecosystems. Here, take opposite approach: given an model, asked how well its filters could characterize practices reported in literature. found that it was easier specific using more detailed described Norton. manipulation biotic most common terrestrial ecosystems, whereas abiotic wetland stream Halle’s model appears useful evaluating current status degraded ecosystems compared nondegraded ones, but Norton’s is better particular activities might undertaken move system from a state.
