摘要: The use of poison by farmers to control livestock predators is a major threat vulture populations across Eurasia and Africa. While there now some understanding on freehold farmland regions in southern Africa, the prevalence drivers this practice are still unknown communal farmlands. We surveyed 353 Namibia assess reported intended factors associated with both. used Randomised Response Technique, method deemed yield more robust estimates sensitive behaviours compared direct questioning. found 1.7% admitted using last year. Furthermore, study region, predicted was highest (up 7%) areas upper north-west. identified ‘hotspots’ will assist conservation practitioners focus their poison-mitigation efforts centred need.
