摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of controlling microbial contamination on the farm. Several potential pre-harvest intervention strategies have been identified, but certain factors may limit their on-farm implementation. The presents a summary interventions that focus most research studies. Some be cost-prohibitive because actual cost or indirect costs associated with decreases in animal performance health, required changes equipment physical facilities, and labor time intensiveness. Currently, proposed will require Food Drug Administration (FDA) approval before they can used commercially food animals. More information is needed regarding effectiveness decreasing Escherichia coli O157 cattle environment effect this reduction risk human illness. needs area safety exist, including: impact transportation fecal shedding; at (clean trucks); hide cross-contamination hides; multi-hurdle feedlot food-borne pathogens; standardization sampling techniques for sampling; methods to detect E. O157; development cost-effective enumerate feces.
