摘要: SUMMARY. Men have used medicinal plant properties to treat infectious diseases. Both the rise of emerging diseases as microbial resistance problem has stimulated searching for new antimicrobial agents. This study evaluated antibacterial activity and toxicity crude extracts, fractions pure compounds from Drimys brasiliensis. The five twelve isolated were tested against six Gram-positive seven Gram-negative bacteria. methodology was agar dilution. extract potential toxicities using Artemia salina assay. Antibacterial tests showed some promising results, such bark chloroform with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 62.5 μg/mL Bacillus cereus, fraction G2 MIC Staphylococcus aureus μg/mL, methoxy-polygodial compound cereus 31.25 μg/mL. There no dichloromethane 1000 Helicobacter pylori. best results corresponded E G2, a 500 Among compounds, polygodial better 250 that toxicity, LC50 values 27.51, 25.29 139.7 respectively. brasiliensis, but possible antimutagenic action.
