摘要: Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate the impact a 10-month after-school physical activity (PA) program on body composition and cardiovascular (CV) fitness in young black girls. Research Methods Procedures: Subjects were 8- 12-year-olds recruited from elementary schools. Body measured using anthropometrics {waist circumference BMI, DXA [percentage fat (%BF)] bone mineral density (BMD)}, magnetic resonance imaging [visceral adipose tissue (VAT)]. CV graded treadmill test. intervention consisted 30 minutes homework/healthy snack time 80 PA (i.e., 25 skills instruction, 35 aerobic PA, 20 strengthening/stretching). Analyses adjusted for age, baseline value dependent variable, sexual maturation (pediatrician observation). Results: Mean attendance 54%. Compared with control group, group had relative decrease %BF (p < 0.0001), BMI 0.01), VAT 0.01) increase BMD 0.0001) 0.05). Higher associated greater increases 0.05) decreases heart rate during 0.005). Discussion: An can lead beneficial changes girls. It is noteworthy that groups differed change but not waist circumference. This suggests central adiposity occur response even children, may be good indicator adiposity.
