摘要: The Laughing Dove Streptopelia senegalensis has widely expanded its geographic range in North Africa. It is nowadays the most common and widespread bird species Tunisian oases. However, little known about breeding ecology despite importance of such information for understanding dynamics this invasive species. In paper we present data on nesting behaviour success one oasis south-eastern Tunisia. Our observations show that season spreads from February until August, with rare attempts observed autumn even winter periods. seems to select areas moderate vegetation density nesting, showing a clear preference fruit trees, particularly pomegranate trees (56% all nests found) olive (38% found). Nests are built at an average height 2.58 ± 0.09 m generally oriented south-east. 61 % were successful. Failures mainly due predation, by mammals (rodents, semi-domestic cats genet). results also suggest densest highest risk predation mammals. This result could be explained fact these constitute refuges nest predators. level snakes higher near edges, where environment more open sunny, facilitating activity reptiles.
