摘要: There is no agreed-upon schedule for MRI follow-up after pituitary adenoma removal via the transsphenoidal approach. Our aim was to establish a plan surgery. Eighty cases (25 microadenomas, 30 macroadenomas that did not infiltrate cavernous sinus, and 25 with sinus infiltration) were prospectively studied following tumor resection Each patient imaged at 24 hours, 3, 6 9 months, 1 year or more postsurgery. The parameters residual tumor, synthetic packing material (Gelfoam) versus fat graft, normal pituitary, hypophyseal stalk optic chiasma. size of structure as whole also measured. latter quantitatively, findings rest evaluated qualitatively, based on examiners' confidence in their assessment. final study, done least postsurgery all cases, considered reference scans. performed hours surgery diagnostically accurate valuable visualizing sellar structures. showed takes longer resorb than Gelfoam, but produces potentially confounding contrast enhancement. An algorithm results presented postsurgical assessment patients which scan major factor determines timing later rechecks.
