摘要: The American woodcock (Scolopax minor) population has declined since the late 1960s across its range and is now considered a species of special concern. Research on habitat use during migration migratory routes through Central Flyway been limited. We assessed phenology, estimated density, nocturnal in fields public lands lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley portion Arkansas November December 2010 2011. used all-terrain vehicles to survey along transects 67 8 field types. analyzed data using hierarchical distance sampling. detected from first week third but low numbers. did not detect millet or rice fields, whereas had highest densities unharvested soybeans. All other crop type–post-harvest management combinations densities. 40 ha. Woodcock may benefit for soybean moderate size (approx. 8–40 ha). © 2014 Wildlife Society.
