摘要: Prior to a community-based efficacy trial of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) in the prevention visceral leishmaniasis (VL; also called kala-azar), pilot study on preference tools was held endemic areas India and Nepal September 2005. LLINs made polyester polyethylene were distributed 60 participants, who used sequentially for 7 d. Acceptability evaluated via indirect indicators through questionnaires at three defined time points before after use LLINs focus group discussions (FGDs). In latter, preferences color size assessed. Untreated bed owned by 87% households prior study. All users liked textures both LLIN types d use, but had slight those if they recommend relatives or friends (p<0.05), mainly because their relatively greater softness comparison LLINs. Users reported that net reduced mosquito bites number insects, including sand fly (bhusana; genus Phlebotomus), inside house. Side effects minor disappeared quickly. The large-scale intervention considered population decide best tool intervention—light-blue, rectangular, different sizes.
