摘要: Placental insufficiency causes intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), a common complication of pregnancy. In skeletal muscle, IUGR reduces fetal myofibril size, myoblast proliferation and expression genes in cell cycle regulation clusters. The myocardium is striated like also activity maturation cardiomyocytes, despite cardiac output preferentially directed to the coronary circulation. We hypothesized that cardiomyocyte would be accompanied by similar changes reduce activity, number, maturity size. Pregnant ewes were housed elevated ambient temperatures from ~40 ~115 days gestation (dGA) produce placental IUGR; hearts studied at ~134 dGA. Hearts biopsied for mRNA analysis then dissociated into individual myocytes (Control n = 8; 15) or dissected 9; 13). fetuses had low circulating insulin insulin-like factor 1 (IGF1) high cortisol. Bodies lighter than those Controls. Cardiomyocytes smaller, less mature, active numerous Further, there was pattern downregulation ventricles. profiles heart muscle suggest differences blood nutrient delivery prioritization. IGF1 signaling suggested as mechanism regulating altered potential therapeutic candidate.
