摘要: Development of the water resources Mekong Basin is subject intense debate both within region and internationally. Water modelling playing an increasingly important role in debate, with significant effort building integrated platforms to describe hydrological, ecological, social economic impacts resource development. In hydrological domain, a comprehensive set models has been effective understanding system, identifying describing issues trade-offs involved basin-scale planning. ecological domains, quantitative not progressed very far; geo-spatial analysis qualitative frameworks remain most commonly used tools. Economic have assess costs benefits development between different sectors users. These analyses are likely play policy planning but hampered by uncertainties valuation ecosystem services. Future efforts should focus on optimising use existing model for Mekong, including structured comparison multiple quantify errors identify optimum tools applications. A research needed incorporate groundwater into regional Options impact assessment be reassessed before major investments made complex platforms, participatory survey methods evaluated as part framework.
