摘要: We show that a thin disk illuminated by central source will produce single-peaked broad emission lines if there is wind emerging from the disk. Line-driven winds in active galactic nuclei and high-luminosity cataclysmic variables afford two examples of such situation. The radial velocity emitting gas much smaller than rotational velocity, but gradients are similar. large gradient allows photons to escape more easily along sight where projected small. As result, single peaked, spite fact comes on essentially circular orbits. compare predicted profiles with C IV III] seen quasars. suggest solution puzzle Balmer eclipsing nova-like variables.
