摘要: A model of telescoping is proposed that assumes no systematic errors in dating. Rather, the overestimation recent occurrences events based on combination three factors: (1) Retention greater for events; (2) dating, though unbiased, increase linearly with time since dated event; and (3) intrusions often occur from outside period being asked about, but such do not come have yet occurred. In Experiment 1, we found recall colloquia fell markedly over a 2-year interval, magnitude psychologists- dating increased at rate .4 days per day delay, direction error was toward middle interval. 2, used retention function first study to predict distribution actual dates recalled as within 5-month period. 3, findings were replicated given by, instead for, subjects.
