Combining MRI and muscle biopsy improves diagnostic accuracy in subacute-onset idiopathic inflammatory myopathy.

摘要: Introduction: In 10-20% of patients with subacute- onset idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM), muscle biopsy is normal or shows nonspecific findings. MRI can be used as a tri- age test before and an add-on if the nondiagnostic. Methods: scans skeletal muscles biopsies were evaluated prospectively in 48 suspected to have IIM. The interpretations compared definite diagnosis (based on European Neuromuscular Centre criteria response corticosteroids). Results: false negative rate (FNR) all was 0.23. Biopsies showing hyperintensity (as triage test) had FNR 0.19. result nondiagnostic decreased from 0.23 0.06.
