摘要: We extend our previously developed general approach (1) to study a phenomenological model in which the simulated packing of hard, attractive spheres on prolate spheroid surface with convexity constraints produces structures identical those virus capsid structures. Our simulation combines traditional Monte Carlo method random sampling an ellipsoidal and convex hull searching algorithm. Using this we assembly structural origin non-icosahedral, elongated capsids, such as two aberrant flock house (FHV) particles prohead bacteriophage phi29, discuss implication results context recent experimental findings.
