摘要: A processor functioning as a coprocessor attached to central processing complex provides efficient execution of the functions required for database processing: sorting, merging, joining, searching and manipulating fields in host memory system. The specialized functional units: interface field extractor/assembler, Predicate Evaluator, combined sort/merge/join unit, hasher, microcoded control processor, are all centered around partitioned Working Store. Each unit is pipelined optimized according function it performs, executes its portion query efficiently. All units execute simultaneously under achieve desired results. Many different can be performed by chaining simple operations together. effectively replace CPU bound portions with that run at maximum access rate improving performance on queries.
