摘要: The evolution of biological complexity is associated with the emergence bespoke immune systems that maintain and protect organism integrity. Unlike well studied immunity at cell individual level, little known about origins during transition to eusociality,a major evolutionary comparable multicellular organisms from single-celled ancestors. We tackle this by characterizing gene repertoire 18 cockroach termite species, spanning spectrum solitary, subsocial eusocial lifestyles. identified five significant family contractions one expansion along spine a time-calibrated phylogeny, correlating key transitions in sociality. In cross-species comparisons expression, we find termites appear have evolved caste-specific social defense system expense protection. Our study indicates organismal entailed fundamental reshaping optimized for group over defense.
