摘要: Predictive genetic testing is the use of a test in an asymptomatic person to predict future risk disease. These tests represent new and growing class medical tests, differing fundamental ways from conventional diagnostic tests. The hope underlying such that early identification individuals at specific condition will lead reduced morbidity mortality through targeted screening, surveillance, prevention. Yet clinical utility predictive for different diseases varies considerably. We explore here factors contribute this variation which dictate any these now or future. #### Summary points Predictive has considerable potential accurate assessment appropriate targeting screening preventive strategies Most carry degree uncertainty about whether develop, when it how severe be The value depends on nature disease being carried out, effective treatment is, cost efficacy surveillance measures Predictive must be tailored individuals' preferences needs experience families The observations paper derive our medicine, genetics, counselling, molecular biology participation educational programmes generalists genetics. definition used encompasses all aspects (individual societal) render more less useful arena. ### Current use A test, as blood count imaging study, defines something patient's current condition. Although information may have implications future, its overwhelming lies provides …
