摘要: Sediment samples were taken by multicorer from a site at 1000 m water depth on the Hebridean shelf edge, west of Scotland, nine times during period April 1995 to July 1996, and surface 1 cm was analysed for lipids. The aims study (a) determine seasonal sources lipid inputs, (b) assess contribution lipids terrestrial origin budget sediments. results indicate variation in total fatty acid content, with highest concentrations May, August September consistent phytoplankton blooms spring autumn. Bacterial biomass appears increase abundance then slowly decreases until April. However, sediment profiles did not accurately reflect known species succession within summer bloom. general lack longer chain acids is predominantly marine input.
