摘要: While the influences of such variables as age and sex are well established for most standardized tests odor identification detection, this is not case memory. In study, 231 non-smoking men women, ranging in from 10 to 68 years, were administered a 12-item match-to-sample microencapsulated memory test (OMT). Anosmics excluded study. Each participant was asked smell target odorant after its release pad then, delay interval 10, 30 or 60 s, pick similarly presented set four odors, three which foils. Backward counting by threes required during intervals an effort minimize semantic rehearsal. Overall OMT scores higher women than men, decreased, each sex, function manner similar age-related decline observed detection. Performance did change interval. A significant correlation between overall on University Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test but accord with notion that may be more likely employ cues their strategies remember odors. The findings discussed light complexities construct
