摘要: Objective The widely accepted h -index depends on the citation analysis source and does not consider authorship position, journal's impact factor (IF), or age of paper author. We investigated these factors in statistics academic neurosurgeons. Methods An uncorrected h- index m- quotient, which corrects for career length, were calculated by use Scopus Google Scholar. In a subset neurosurgeons, we computed contemporary ( hc) , accounts publications; value (AV), weighted author position; journal IF. "overall' average AV IF including most an author's publications comprising (" core") calculated. Results When used Scholar, mean was significantly greater than that when P = 0.0030). quotient hc- increased with rank, >1 achieved 69% chairmen 48% professors. effect greatest indices. core overall IF, did correlate rank. Few neurosurgeons consistently publish high-impact journals. Conclusion Scholar tends to inflate index. m -quotient allow comparisons researchers across time. Although differ among ranks, it should be noted individuals who recommend creation individual bibliometric profiles better compare productivity
