摘要: Abstract Background: Although many reports demonstrate the hemodynamic benefits of left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) in right-sided circulation, it is not known whether right myocardium goes through reverse remodeling after mechanical circulatory support. Accordingly, purposes our studies were 1) to investigate changes that occur fibrosis, cellular hypertrophy, and intra-myocardial tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) levels patients receiving LVAD support; 2) determine type used influences myocardial changes. Methods results: We measured myocyte size, total collagen content, TNF-α using semi-quantitative immunohistochemical analysis samples from ventricles control failing myocardia, either supported by 1 2 distinct forms LVADs or without found when compared with control, although size was increased ventricle myocardia ( p = significant), content decreased controls Conclusion: These data chronic unloading pulsatile continuous-flow decreases content. suggest fibrosis normalization cytokine milieu observed may part contribute recovery cardiac function associated
