摘要: BACKGROUND Several health conditions among professional fishermen have been reported. Among the risks to of fishermen, it should be noted that high noise levels cause hearing loss and general problems. OBJECTIVE investigate effects exposure occupational on in at main large-scale commercial fishing center Brazil. METHODS A cross-sectional study, 466 Brazilian participated all males, ages range 18-67 years. total 15 vessels were included study. The first phase involved assessment sound pressure (SPLs) vessels, second use a questionnaire audiological assessment. RESULTS Most compartments registered SPLs greater than 80 dBA noisiest compartment was engine-room, where vessel pilot works. tinnitus most commonly reported symptom (48.63%). higher prevalence observed engine-room keepers. Longer length time service, consequently, (in years), associated with auditory thresholds. CONCLUSION tolerance limits exceeded according legislation. Fishing activities are noise-induced loss, risk increasing service.
