摘要: Purpose: This study aimed to investigate gender differences in i) pancreatic insulin secretory ([beta]-cell sensitivity) and whole body sensitivity responses an intravenous carbohydrate (CHO) load, (ii) metabolic exercise after both oral CHO loads. Methods: Seven untrained healthy men seven age-, mass-, [latin capital V with dot above]O2max-matched women performed two trials. In one trial they cycled for 60 min at 50% above]O2max, starting ingestion of a carbohydrate-rich meal (ME trial). the other trial, subjects were infused 20% dextrose solution maintain blood glucose concentration approximately 8 mmol[middle dot]L-1 (INF trial), then infusion rate was maintained constant during following while exercising above]O2max. Results: There no effect on [beta]-cell (serum insulin: 161 +/- 37 159 28 pmol[middle women, respectively) (155 24 135 29 mg[middle dot]KgFFM-1[middle dot]min-1 per x 100 respectively). may explain similarity glycemic, substrate oxidation loads women. Conclusion: These results suggest that moderate postprandial state presents similar challenge ability healthy, perform without substantial decline plasma below fasting values.
