History of offending behavior in first episode psychosis patients: A marker of specific clinical needs and a call for early detection strategies among young offenders

摘要: Abstract Objectives Previous literature suggests that early psychosis (EP) patients with a history of offending behavior (HOB) have specific clinical needs. The aims this study were to assess: (1) the prevalence HOB in representative sample EP; (2) premorbid and baseline characteristics HOB, (3) potential differences short-term outcome such when compared without HOB. Methods Early Psychosis Prevention Intervention Centre (EPPIC) admitted 786 EP between 1998 2000. Data collected from patients' files using standardized questionnaire. 647 could be analyzed. Results (29% sample) more likely male lower level functioning education, used illicit substances attempted suicide. They presented complex picture had poorer 18-month outcome. Most importantly, they significantly longer duration untreated psychosis. Conclusions On basis high features our confirms need for additional research domain development treatment strategies. it promotion detection strategies among populations young offenders, considering some them may going through phases psychotic disorder reduction delay provision well adapted interventions significant impact at numerous levels patients.
