Electrodialytic treatment of sewage sludge: Current intensity influence on phosphorus recovery and organic contaminants removal

摘要: Abstract There is a need to develop viable techniques for removal and/or recovery of organic and inorganic compounds from environmental matrices, due their eco-toxicity, regulatory obligations or potential supplies as secondary materials. Simultaneous phosphorus (P) emerging contaminants (caffeine, bisphenol A, 17α-ethinylestradiol oxybenzone) sewage sludge (SS) was assessed using the electrodialytic (ED) process. The SS samples were collected at settling tank between May July, 2015. Different current intensities tested continuously sequentially (between 50, 75 100 mA), in 2 compartment cell, placing cathode end, separated anode end through an anion exchange membrane. After 24 h, 45 55% P electromigrated all experiments application higher did not promote significant improvements its recovery. 72 h, best results obtained when 100 mA (0.21 mA/cm ) applied: 70% recovered anolyte 79 96% degraded. Still, enriched completely free contaminants.
