摘要: Sixty-four accessions of Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.), a forage crop tropics and subtropics, were assessed for polymorphism in isozymes total proteins (TP). The national germplasm collection exhibited all the three viz., malate dehydrogenase, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase peroxidase (POX) besides TP profile. Though POX showed comparatively higher polymorphism, study indicated efficiency three-enzyme system identifying more than 90% accessions. combination systems provided unique isozyme/TP banding patterns 64 leading to development accession specific profile/fingerprints. In Napier, which is perennial with long vegetative phase, it difficult discriminate based only on morphology. Thus biochemical markers could be efficiently utilized complement morphological evaluations, maintaining identity purity proper conservation management, better use breeding proprietary reasons.
