The first modern museums of art : the birth of an institution in 18th- and early-19th-century Europe

摘要: It is a comelling account of the origins world's most important museums. In 18th and early 19th centuries first modern, public museums art appeared throughout Europe, setting standard for nature such institutions that has made its influence felt to present day. Although emergence these was an international development, their shared history not been systematically explored until now. Taking up project, this volume includes chapters on fifteen earliest major examples, from Capitoline Museum in Rome, opened 1734, Alte Pinakothek Munich, 1836. These essays consider number issues, as nature, display, growth museums' collections role educating public.
