摘要: 1By analogy to previous work on lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) magnocellular (M) and parvocellular (P) cells our goal was construct a physiological profile of koniocellular (K) that might be linked particular visual perceptual attributes. 2Extracellular recordings were used study LGN cells, or their axons, in silenced primary cortex (V1), nine anaesthetized owl monkeys injected with neuromuscular blocker. Receptive field centre-surround organization examined using flashing spots. Spatial temporal tuning contrast responses drifting sine-wave gratings; counterphase gratings examine linearity spatial summation. 3Receptive fields 133 10 afferent axons analysed at eccentricities ranging from 2.8 31.3 deg. Thirty-four per cent K only 9 % P 6 M responded poorly gratings. K, showed increases centre size eccentricity, but more scatter. All except one cell, summation. 4At matched eccentricities, exhibited lower intermediate resolution compared cells. thresholds gains similar those than higher cells. 5K different layers differed spatial, characteristics, K3 having K1/K2 cells. 6Taken together results these findings suggest the consist several classes, some which could contribute conventional aspects resolution.
