摘要: Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of death in the United States, with 5-year mortality rate 50% despite modern pharmacological therapies. Plant-based diets are comprised diverse polyphenol profile, which lends to their association reduced cardiovascular disease risk. Whether polyphenol-rich diet can slow progression or reverse HF humans not known. To date, vitro and vivo studies have reported on protective role polyphenols HF. In this review, we will discuss major mechanisms by mitigate vivo, including (1) cardiac inflammation oxidative stress, (2) mitochondrial dysfunction, (3) improved Ca2+ homeostasis, (4) increased survival signaling, (5) sirtuin 1 activity.
