摘要: There is extensive evidence indicating that new neurons are generated in the dentate gyrus of adult mammalian hippocampus, a region brain important for learning and memory1,2,3,4,5. However, it not known whether these become functional, as methods used to study neurogenesis limited fixed tissue. We use here retroviral vector expressing green fluorescent protein only labels dividing cells, can be visualized live hippocampal slices. report newly cells mouse hippocampus have neuronal morphology display passive membrane properties, action potentials functional synaptic inputs similar those found mature granule cells.
