摘要: Five children (three males, two females; four right-, one left-handed; age range 6 to 14 years) who developed aphasia after gross-total excision of left predominantly thalamic tumors are reported. Three patients had Broca aphasia, mixed transcortical and patient conduction aphasia. In the months surgery, three improved while receiving radiation and/or chemotherapy, although none recovered completely. Two with malignant worsening when tumor recurred, later died. tested visuospatial difficulties in addition language deficits. Attention executive functioning were affected tested. Memory, verbal visual functioning, Both showed transient right hemineglect. probably apraxic. The wide deficits these highlights importance thalamus other subcortical structures developing cognition.
