摘要: Abstract Though coliform bacteria are used worldwide to indicate faecal pollution of groundwater, the parameters determining transport Escherichia coli in aquifers relatively unknown. To investigate effect dissolved organic carbon (DOC) on attachment E. saturated goethite-coated sand, we carried out column experiments with and without humic acid (HA) monovalent divalent salt solutions. characterize sorption DOC , measured pH influent effluent, cation concentrations zeta potential particles. Depending chemistry suspension, normalized breakthrough were over 80 times higher columns treated HA compared not HA. However, this difference was constant: there time-dependent variations collector surface, chemical composition bacterial suspension. Reduction removal occurred because altered surface charge also sterically hindered . In addition, reduction a CaCl 2 suspension probably caused by site-blocking mechanisms between Ca 2+ ions. Our results that presence DOC, concept geochemical heterogeneity explaining biocolloids has limited relevance.
