摘要: Forests have significant economic and ecological value as a provider of ecosystem services, being home to much the world’s biodiversity supporting livelihoods many people. Reducing emissions from deforestation forest degradation in developing countries (REDD) is critical component overall greenhouse gas emission reductions now significance REDD+ (which not only about reducing but halting reversing loss), delivering climate change mitigation benefits along with co-benefits, increasingly recognized global negotiations. Northeast India provides tremendous potential for harnessing activities 66% total geographical area region covered by forests. This paper attempts explore this besides estimating available different options under well using COMAP model, overcoming limitations existing studies or lack them. Within this, status forests drivers north east are documented an assessment taking up enhancement carbon stocks afforestation conducted both at state district level. It was found that northeastern states been experiencing net loss during last few years scale degradation, Nagaland followed Arunachal Pradesh offering maximum “reducing deforestation” option REDD incremental annual four northeast 29.2 MtCO2 2030.
