Bunching mechanism for coherent curvature radiation in pulsar magnetospheres

摘要: A relativistic plasma consisting of electron-positron pairs produced by photons initially has identical charge and current distributions in its two components. We show that when such a moves along curved field line rotating pulsar magnetosphere, net density relative streaming between the electrons positrons must develop. The resulting two-stream instability bunches charges on time scale ..gamma../sub plus-or-minus/ /sup 2/..omega../sup -1/ with average laboratory Lorentz factor ..omega.. mode frequency. For an bunching causes curvature radiation to be coherent microwave region. growth rate approx.10/sup 3/-10/sup 4/ s/sup suffices yield large wave amplitude within light cylinder. results are generalized oblique rotator geometries. unstable modes considered, inclusion interaction can lead amplication bunching.
