摘要: In debates about science and the environment, “science-lay dichotomy is both highly tenuous tenacious” (Irwin & Michael, 2003, p. 124). It tenacious because, despite continual criticism from social scientists, it continues to underpin “cognitive-deficit model” of public understanding science. The deficit model rests on assumption that lay unscientific, unspecialized, often ignorant (or at least poorly informed) details scientific technological developments are therefore normally excluded decisions how environment managed. consequently also assumed in this exclusion lack knowledge breed distrust their regulation and, therefore, must be corrected by providing more information improving education these matters.
