摘要: We retrospectively reviewed a 20-year experience with 59 carotid body tumors in 55 patients examined at our institution order to determine the long-term results of surgical resection, including rates distant metastasis, local recurrence, and survival. Complete excision was possible 52 (95%). Perioperative mortality only 2% (1 procedures), no operative deaths occurred during last 10 years study. Survival after resection tumor equivalent that for sex- age-matched control subjects. Only one patient (2%) had development metastatic disease follow-up. Three (6%) recurrence complete excision. All recurrent were observed multiple paragangliomas or family history cervical paragangliomas. Therefore, we advocate early all low-risk patients. Such maximizes possibility cure minimizes risks neurovascular complications associated large neglected tumors.
