摘要: Background : Platelets play a central role in primary hemostasis. Quantitative abnormalities of platelets are known to occur chronic liver disease. The study was carried out determine the platelet count various forms Hepatitis B virus-related Methods Platelet on consecutive disease patients seen at gastroenterology unit University Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku/Ozalla who tested positive for surface antigen (HBsAg) from January 2007 June 2009. Dyspeptic undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy were HBsAg negative used as controls. Results There 142 with HBV-related (asymptomatic infection 29.6%, hepatitis 8.4%, cirrhosis 27.5%, and hepatocellular carcinoma 34.5%). no statistically significant difference between mean virus (HBV) related whole control subjects (p = 0.4655).
