摘要: Background Mesotherapy is an increasingly used technique which currently causing several mycobacterial infections owing to contaminated substances being injected, and also poor aseptic measures held by nonprofessional practitioners. Patients methods We collected 15 cases of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection after mesotherapy in a 6-month period. Results All patients were female with ages ranging from 19 52 years; the main injected procaine lecithin, time between appearance lesions varied 1 12 weeks. Clinical mostly nodules abscesses, localized abdomen buttocks majority cases. The patient complaint was local pain but some presented systemic symptoms such as fever malaise. Biopsies reported granulomatous chronic inflammation Skin cultures positive for NTM Mycobacterium chelonae. Discussion conclusions not performed quality controlled can be predisposing factor infection.
