摘要: Hydrogenase enzymes are nature’s solution to using molecular hydrogen as an energy source. While the air-sensitivity of these biological catalysts make them impractical for industrial generation, synthetic mimics show promise in acting effective substitutes. model compounds also enable detailed investigation ultrafast dynamics and chemical reaction mechanisms infrared spectroscopy. This chapter reviews progress applying transient absorption multidimensional spectroscopy a range small molecule hydrogenase compounds, well several macromolecular larger constructs. The rich vibrational structure straightforward modularity diiron represent exciting class molecules that are, at same time, excellent systems fundamental dynamics, practical catalytic components with direct application next-generation hydrogen-based strategies.
