摘要: Abstract This study examines how U.S. presidents have defined the purpose of education. Presidential rhetoric about education in inaugural and State Union speeches was collected examined. Throughout history, two purposes gained most attention—civic responsibility economic efficiency—with emphasis shifting from civic to efficiency over time.
