摘要: A method based on a virtual strain-energy (VSE) concept has been shown to be effective for use in predicting multiaxial fatigue lives of two widely-used commercial alloys subjected in-phase and out-of-phase biaxial loading conditions ASTM STP 1191 (1993) 67; J Eng Mater Tech 117 (1995) 285. This paper is intended reaffirm the effectiveness VSE life demonstrate its inherent ability describing behavior such as crack orientations growth characteristics. To this end, basic briefly reintroduced validated with data obtained from different heats, domestic foreign origin, type 316 stainless steel cyclic torsion static axial tension or compression. Excellent agreement general was observed between predictions experimental results except case compression, which appeared show beneficial torsional life.
