摘要: Abstract The study examined the dynamics of EPS production in activated sludges. Semi-continuously fed batch sludge reactors were operated at different feeding conditions, namely COD/TKN ratios 10, 5 and 0, respectively. Parallel to this operation, fractionation evaluated. identified for first time a very loosely bound fraction EPS, VLB-EPS. Bound divided into many fractions as Very Loosely Bound-EPS (VLB-EPS), (LB-EPS) Tightly (TB-EPS) while carbohydrate protein content each was measured. Regardless ratio, tightly protein-EPS dominant all As determined by HPSEC analyses, fractions, great portion had molecular weight (MW) ≤12.5 kDa. Although substrates effectively removed after start-up reactors, long operation required stabilization EPS. only exception nitrifying which soon stabilized.
