摘要: It has recently been demonstrated that a general three-dimensional (3D) polarization state cannot be considered an incoherent superposition of (1) pure state, (2) two-dimensional unpolarized and (3) 3D [J. J. Gil, Phys. Rev. A 90, 043858 (2014)]. This fact is intimately linked to the existence states with fluctuating directions propagation, but whose associated matrices R satisfy rank $\mathbf{R}=2$. In this work, such peculiar are analyzed characterized, leading meaningful classification interpretation states. Within theoretical framework, interrelations among more significant descriptors presented in literature, as well their respective physical interpretations, studied illustrated examples, providing better understanding structure polarimetric purity any kind state.
