摘要: Depth maps are typically made of smooth regions separated by sharp edges. Following this rationale, paper presents a novel coding scheme where depth data is represented set contours defining the various together with compact representation values inside each region. The proposed based on elastic curves, which make possible to compactly represent exploiting also temporal consistency in different frames. A 3D surface prediction algorithm then used obtain an accurate estimation field from coded and subsampled version data. Finally, ad-hoc strategy for low resolution residuals presented. Experimental results prove how approach able very high efficiency outperforming HEVC coder at medium-low bitrates.
